More than sixty nations, encompassing 4.4. billion people, are now engaged in the largest global infrastructure program in mankind’s history. Do you know about it?

This evening panel will, with the participation of members of Houston’s diplomatic community, speak affirmatively to important aspects of the "New Silk Road" - China's Belt and Road Initiative, and the related efforts of the BRICS group of nations. Combined, these efforts represent tremendous opportunities for the United States, its enterprises, and all of our citizens. Simultaneously a pathway opens towards peace and security, bringing to an end a period of tragic wars. The New Silk Road can become a peaceful ‘World Silk Road.’

High Speed Rail networks, new ports along the coasts of Eurasia and African nations, new rail and highway routes linking the capitals of Africa, large scale water reclamation and hydro-electric projects, connectivity including satellite networks, new universities and science cities. The capacity of the Suez Canal was doubled by Egypt in one year; projects are underway and more are planned across the Americas; Japan is joining with Russia to develop Russia’s Far East. Financing is being generated through a new financial architecture, as recently endorsed by the G20 nations.
