Release Scheduled for

Amelia Boynton Robinson's Book,
Bridge Across Jordan To Be Reissued

Civil Rights heroine Amelia Boynton Robinson's much acclaimed book Bridge Across Jordan will be reissued on Presidents' Day weekend, 2003, by the Schiller Institute. The second edition of this book, which was initially published in 1991 by the Schiller Institute, of which Mrs. Robinson is vice-chairman, tells the story of the fight for voting rights spearheaded by Amelia and her husband, Sam W. Boynton, in Selma, Alabama beginning in the 1930s, and culminating in the 1960s with the Battle for Selma, resulting in the passage of the Right to Vote Bill and the Civil Rights Bill. The book also tells why, many years after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., whom she had personally invited to Selma, Amelia Robinson decided to become a member of the Schiller Institute and a supporter of Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr.

The book, which has been out of print for a number of years, is being republished now in memory of its editor and Amelia's close collaborator, Marianna Wertz, vice-president of the Schiller Institute in the U.S.A. Marianna, who just last August travelled to Selma, Alabama to participate in a long overdue ceremony sponsored by the City of Selma to recognize the historic contribution of Amelia and Sam Boynton, passed away on January 15, 2003, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, after unsuccessful cardiac surgery.

The book contains the following new dedication:

In Loving Memory of a Beautiful Soul
Marianna Wertz

August 14, 1948 - January 15, 2003

Within a land, I've lived and dined
And all its riches freely mine.
Here shines one day, yet comes what may
For all my folly passed away.

My Savior came and walked with me,
Such sweet communion, here have we.
He gently led me by His hand.
Child, this is heaven's border-land.

The music that was sung for me,
Great songs of heaven's melody.
As angels on their white-robed throne
Joined in the sweet redemptive song.

Oh heavenly land, sweet heavenly land
As on the highest mount I stand,
I looked away across the sea
Where mansions are prepared for me
And all mankind who loveth Thee.

Marianna was the epitome of a saint on earth. As I travel throughout the world I meet people who remember her and speak so eloquently of this little lady who could converse on any subject, often leaving one stupid, because he didn't know what he was talking about. She could talk with kings and paupers and never lose the common touch.

Marianna played an important part in states taking a more serious look at the death penalty. She was more than being concerned about the innocence of men who were on death row, yet executed. She is not with us but rejoices with us when Governor Ryan of Illinois demanded a stay of executions for all death row inmates.

One of Marianna's priorities was loving everybody. It matters not where we live, we keep that love in our hearts for people regardless of race, color, creed or humbleness of birth. Kindness is the outer layer of the depth of our heart and it goes into action when we turn away the wrath that often encompasses us. Marianna had all of these qualities, which built up a wall that was so thick and so high that hate, fear and jealousy could not penetrate it.

No wonder Marianna liked to say: The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handiwork. Marianna is where there can be no more sadness, sickness, sorrows, pains, nor death. She wishes that we do not weep for her, but follow in herfootsteps, so we will meet her again where we all can rejoice with her.
